Fourthly, The sound is not annoying like other cordless or air ratchet. First off, It's operated by a lithium ion rechargeable battery that i can use it any time i need without worrying that it has no power. Fifthly, I love this product. Charging is easy and quick also. It wont over-torque your oil pan bolts. Secondly, the construction seems rigid and sturdy and it looks sophisticated to me and it does not look like it is just a $50 tool either. You can use it as a manual ratchet and use the power to speed up the loosening or the tightening.
You can use it to loosen nuts without using its power only by just manually turning it as manual ratchet then you can just flip the switch to turn its loosening torque to remove the nuts or screws whatever fastener there may be. I have used other cordless ratchet and there is one that is also cool but it is pricey and bulkier than this one. I have used this for over a year now and have been using this tool almost everyday as a Auto service technician. Lastly, You will love it too.
I have yet to see a greater cordless tool than this one to doubt myselt that this review is not reliable. On water pumps and timing belts removal and installation, this tool is a time saver. On oil and transmission pans - this tool is a time and thread saver as well. Thirdly, I love the look and feel of it, the weight is so balanced and the grip is astounding - it wont slip out of your hand. I just use an adapter to fit a 3/8 spark plug socket. 8thly I love it really. Very portable and handy - It comes with extra bits and sockets which i have not used because as a mechanic I have plenty of sockets and bits that I use for this tool. Sixthly, I love it.
I used it to remove bolts and nuts and screws when I do maintenance, tune up - very nice tool to remove and install spark plugs. Loose a spark plug by hand flip the switch and then tight it back on with power then torque with hand. 7thly, I love it. Promise.
I have a lot of Skil tools but in the future I probably will not purchase any more from them or their Bosch counterpart only because of the way they have dealt with this ratchet. So, I went to Skil website to get parts and everything for this ratchet has been discontinued.
I love the concept and functionality, but after having the second one quit on me shortly after purchasing it. I have purchased 2 of these.
I did not drop them to cause this or abuse them in any way. I disassembled both ratchets only to find the same issue.
The magnets in the motors ended up in little pieces. Skil really dropped the ball on this one, I would rather pay a bit more and have a quality tool.
A good company would have recalled them or at least replaced their defective motors.
Worked great for about a week and then just stopped working. Nobody seems to carry them anymore which makes me suspect they had a major design flaw that the manufacturer does not want to recall.
Mine is broken, too. Dead as a door knob. Take your chances. Used very little, Didn't have it too long.
But with the Phillips head attachment, I find the Power Wrench works every where the stubby screw drivers were. It can also be used as a manual wrench. I purchased the Power Wrench after seeing it in a "What's New" section of a magazine. The Power Wrench mode, where you pull the trigger and it engages the motor. Paired with my larger socket set, sometimes I break lose nuts and the use the Power Wrench with the 3/8" adapter where I would normally be removing it with my fingers.I've given several of these as gifts and recommend them to everyone. Not only does it work, it works better. It is fairly noisy but it provides more power than you would expect a 7.2V tool to provide.
Any 1/4" socket or tool will fit onto the end of it. It has grown to be my favorite tool in my tool box. Before this tool, when I had to tighten screws in tight spaces I've used little stubby screw drivers. I really like that when the battery is too low to drive something, you still can use it.The Power Wrench bundle is just a starter if you are going to use it often. It takes less time and has less hand fatigue.I started out using it is a pretty specialized application, but now I use it to drive everything from screws, nuts and hex screws (putting together Ikea furniture was never easier). It has two modes. It works by ratcheting a small metal piece in the head back and forth. I've bought little wrench and socket sets (both metric and standard) to extend the functionality along with a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter.
